In 2006 one of the world's most influential video game franchises was born. The title known as a shooter or first-person shooter would sell for millions as the years went by. Call of Duty has given players many hours of gameplay in all sorts of settings from futuristic re-creations, real-world historical events settings, or campaigns in supposed current settings with different political and warfare conflicts.
The news about Call of Duty in relation to its sales numbers and number of players varies according to titles and consoles but they all have something in common, we always talk about millions. For example, the latest free download title released for consoles and PC, the Battle Royale Call of Duty: Warzone, has 60 million players. On the other hand, Call of Duty Modern Warfare was the product made in 2019 and in its launch month alone it sold 5 million copies and became the best-selling video game of that year. For its part, the mobile version of the franchise distributed by Activision registers more than 100 million downloads.

The same game, three different developers

Activision Blizzard is the company in charge of Call of Duty and its distribution. Within the company they work with three different developers who “order” the game that will be released this year. The most important divisions are Infinity Ward (team that runs Modern Warfare for example), Sledgehammer Games (group that produced the game dedicated to World War II) and Treyarch (personnel responsible for the Black Ops saga). Although all are grouped under the Call of Duty signature, each one has characteristics that distinguish them in their designs and play styles.
Several years ago the latest news about Call of Duty usually shows that Activision decides to make an even rotation between the developers, that is, they take turns to produce the main title of that year. In 2017 Sledgehammer Games released Call of Duty: World War II, in 2018 Treyarch released Black Ops 4 and in 2019 it was Infinity Ward's turn with Modern Warfare. Although the new Call of Duty and the launch for 2020 would be up to Sledgehammer Games, the information that circulates in the world of fans of the popular shooter is different and it seems that it will break with tradition.

The reboot of an old acquaintance

Followers of the world's best-selling first-person shooter welcomed the news from Call of Duty and the reboot of the Modern Warfare division. The saga has had fans for years and seeing the development on the new consoles was very good. The same thing happened in 2018 when Treyarch participated in the creation of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Given the number of rumors that Treyarch will return with the line dedicated to Black Ops, a signal appeared in what will be an upcoming update of the game. One user found that the Treyarch symbol and name would be added as one of the calling cards in the package of the next Call of Duty: Modern Warfare update. The novelty is important because in previous years each time a symbol from another game appeared in an update it predicted what the new release would be that year.
